RFID Wristband System Debuts at Nashville Sounds Charity Golf Scramble Sponsored by Country Music TV
San Fernando, CA (June 2, 2005) – Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a leader in Auto ID Wristband Solutions, and its regional integration partner, Passage, Inc., will debut Fareway™, an RFID admissions and cashless payment system, at the 2005 Nashville Sounds Charity Golf Scramble presented by Country Music Television (CMT) on June 8 at the Legacy Golf Course in Springfield, Tenn.
The Fareway payment system, intended for use in golf communities, consists of PDC Smart Band® RFID Wristbands and RFID handheld readers. Fareway will be used for admissions and to redeem free merchandise at the event.
Smart Bands revolve around a tiny, flat RFID chip, sealed in a non-transferable plastic wristband that uses customized PDC software to store and transfer data which is read by RFID readers. The RFID chips used during the charity golf tournament will contain credits, similar to money, which will be used to redeem free sponsor merchandise at the event. The RFID wristbands will help reduce long admission lines and help streamline overall event operations.
Aside from programming credits, the wristbands can be used for a variety of functions including cashless payment, tracking of purchases, and access control. They provide nontransferable positive patron ID while increasing per capita spending, enabling cashless transactions at the point-of-sale, and eliminating the need for tickets at events.
The charity golf tournament is a fundraiser benefiting the Nashville Sounds Foundation. Proceeds will be used to promote youth baseball, education, and literacy in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky .
