Automated Medication Kit Checking Solution Uses RFID Technology to Improve Patient Safety and Workflow Efficiency in Hospital Pharmacies

 

Valencia, CA (Oct. 29, 2014) – PDC Healthcare, the global leader of innovative identification solutions, announces a reseller agreement with MEPS Real-Time, Inc. authorizing PDC Healthcare to market the Intelliguard® Kit and Tray Management System in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Georgia, and Florida. The Intelliguard® System uses RFID technology to automate medication inventory management and replenishment. The system will be demonstrated at the California Society for Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) Seminar at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square from October 31 through November 1, at the Intelliguard® RFID Solutions kiosk #403, 405.

 

The Intelliguard® Kit and Tray Management System helps the hospital pharmacy to improve workflow efficiency and patient safety by automating kit and tray replenishment tasks. The system also helps reduce inventory costs and required work time. Pharmacy personnel simply load the Intelliguard® workstation with kits, trays, bags or tackle boxes that are returned for reprocessing, and in a matter of seconds, the system can scan more than 150 medications to instantly identify specific items and quantities for replenishment, expired and soon-to-expire medications, and recalls. The Intelliguard®  Kit and Tray Management System offers a variety of workstation form factor sizes to fit all pharmacies and uses the industry’s smallest RFID Smart Tag to track critical medication data including NDC, expiration date and lot number.
