PDC Opens Manufacturing Facility in Tijuana, Mexico

Tijuana, Mexico-PDC Corporation, an international leader in identification technology, completed development and staffing at its new international manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico on September 22, 2003.
Daniel Gonzalez, PDC's Plant Manager in Tijuana stated, "Our new facility is fully staffed with 48 employees. We initially began shipping product on May 20, and the operation has developed into an efficient one, providing identification wristbands, armboards, and infant footprinters for our customers."
PDC Consultant Hosmel Galan headed an analysis task force that reviewed various locations in Mexico and ultimately selected the 50,000-square-foot Tijuana location. In addition, PDC took measures for a smooth transition of these product lines and the integration of new staff. As Galan explained, "We worked very closely with a shelter that serves as a liaison with the Mexican government, assuring the proper import/export procedures and administrative and human resource practices."
PDC continues to advance its structure and position within the marketplace to drive growth and increase revenue. The company President/CEO, Gary Hutchinson, stated, "We are very fortunate to be working in conjunction with Mexico, our neighboring country, in a location that is close to our corporate headquarters in Southern California. The new facility is a stepping stone toward our future growth plans and commitment to operational efficiencies. We will continue to strategically leverage both our manufacturing and human resources to provide premier products, superior service, and on-time delivery to our customers."
With nearly 50 years of experience, PDC is the global leader and pacesetter in the development of automatic identification wristband systems and quality healthcare products. The company introduced the first patient bar code ID wristband in 1984 and radio frequency identification (RFID) wristbands in 2000. PDC's quality system meets the requirements of the International Standards Organization ISO-9001 certification, representing the finest in product service, design, and manufacturing.
