Extra smooth material with contoured edges is soft on the most delicate of patient’s skin

San Fernando, CA (February 1, 2011) – Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), the global leader in healthcare identification, today announced a new extension to its popular DuraPrint Laser Printable Patient ID System called DuraPrint TenderCare which accommodates Labor & Delivery, Neonatal, and Pediatric applications.
Unlike traditional laminated wristbands, DuraPrint TenderCare’s patented material doesn’t require a laminate overlay, which greatly reduces application time while protecting patient information.

Available in three styles (Mother/Father/Baby, Neonatal, and Pediatric/Infant), DuraPrint TenderCare features extra smooth material with contoured edges that are soft on the most delicate of patient’s skin. “No other laser ID product is gentler on tender skin,” said Maryellen O’Keefe Smith, Product Manager for Precision Dynamics. “It also provides a maximum level of durability to resist scratching and tearing for the full duration of the patient’s stay.”

The Mother/Father/Baby and Neonatal Sheets feature a unique “luggage tag” design in which the tail of the wristband threads through a slit and easily adjusts to the size of the patient’s wrist or ankle. The design provides a large space for both handwritten and printed patient information.

“In talking to hospital staff that are responsible for banding patients, a common criticism of the laminate overly wristband is inconvenience,” said O’Keefe Smith. “Staff found the manual process of applying the laminate overly onto the band to be cumbersome, time-consuming, and inefficient.” Designed to overcome these challenges, DuraPrint TenderCare’s advanced material safely protects patient data and bar codes without the need for an overlay. “It’s quick, easy, and seamless,” said O’Keefe Smith. “Simply remove the band, apply it to the patient’s wrist or ankle, and secure with the tamper-evident adhesive closure. It’s that simple.” Compatible with HP and Lexmark printers, DuraPrint TenderCare does not require capital for additional equipment so it’s quick and easy to switch to DuraPrint TenderCare from another patient ID product.

Hospitals also choose DuraPrint TenderCare for its ability to protect patient information for accurate bar code scanning. Traditional laminate overlay wristbands may cause wrinkles and folds, while allowing water and chemicals to become trapped underneath the overlay. This can cause bar code readability and legibility problems, which can lead to misidentification errors. DuraPrint TenderCare’s® patented material resists moisture, alcohol, and hand sanitizer to provide maximum protection of patient information. “As a result, DuraPrint scans the first time, every time,” said O’Keefe Smith.

The DuraPrint TenderCare Mother/Father/Baby Sheet includes two baby wristbands, two adult wristbands, and one crib card. The Neonatal Sheet includes four baby wristbands and one crib card. The Pediatric/Infant Sheet includes one pediatric wristband, one infant wristband, and 16 standard chart labels.
