San Fernando, CA (February 20, 2006) – Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a global leader in automatic wristband identification, will showcase its line of RFID (radio frequency identification) Solutions for Patron Management and Healthcare at RFID World, in Dallas, TX, February 27 – March 1.

RFID for Patron Management

PDC Smart Band^® RFID Wristbands, Smart Kiosk™ and PDC Smart^® Readers, provide venues with an RFID Cashless Point-of-Sale (POS) Payment System. Smart Kiosk is a free-standing terminal with touch-screen that allows patrons to load money using cash, credit or debit cards onto RFID wristbands. PDC Smart Reader is a device that replaces the need for expensive stand-alone POS systems.

Smart Kiosk works similar to an ATM machine, but instead, funds are transferred onto patrons’ RFID wristbands. The Smart Band Wristband System helps increase throughput at concession stands, reducing long lines that often deter patrons from making additional purchases.

RFID for Healthcare

In recognizing the need to facilitate the interoperability between RFID and bar code, PDC developed a device that can read/write to an RFID wristband and scan a bar code. The DR1000, a dual RFID/bar code handheld reader, can read/write to Smart Band RFID Wristbands, 13.56 MHz transponders, and scan 1-D or 2-D bar codes.

The device combines an RFID reader/writer and an imaging bar code scanner into a tethered reader. The lightweight and durable DR1000 can reduce common manual data-entry errors, eliminate repetitive data-entry into medical devices, and parse data and automatically fill in appropriate fields on a form. The dual reader provides an easy migration from bar codes to RFID tags for healthcare and commercial applications.

“RFID Wristbands allow for peripheral applications, such as Smart Kiosk and DR1000, to connect and communicate accordingly with an organization’s system of choice,” says Irwin Thall, RFID Manager at PDC. “Without RFID wristbands, these systems would not be functional—wristbands are the glue that keeps everything together.”
